This snippet comes from the online MSDN documentation over at msdn.microsoft.com “Conditional comments make it easy for developers to take advantage of the enhanced features offered by Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and later versions, while writing pages that downgrade gracefully in less-capable browsers or display correctly in browsers other than Windows Internet Explorer”

Its 2008 and web developers spend a huge amount of their time making standards based layouts work in IE6 and the online MS documentation talks about the enhanced features of IE5!! IE7 is not standards compliant and nothing much indicates that IE8 will be either!! FTW
